I Love It!

This past week Dusty and I stayed at my sister's house while her and the fam were on vacation. We love staying there because we are close to his parents (who are awesome...and his mom makes amazing dinners) and there is so much to do in their house. I took advantage of the craft room and crafted like crazy. Dusty mostly sat at his computer studying...poor guy. :(

We also got to watch their little teacup poodle, Lizzie. She is such a fun dog and gets so excited every time I walk in the door, even if I've only been gone for a few minutes. She was my new companion for the week- followed me every where I went, cuddled up next to me while watching a movie, went on walks with me, and even slept with me...

This morning when I was packing everything up she started to get very nervous and followed my every move. When I began packing my belongings into my car, I realized Lizzie was not at my side- weird. So I called her name and then got worried that maybe she had run away. So I walked outside to see if she was out there, and saw her sitting on the passenger seat in my car; she had no intention of leaving that spot. She was determined not to be left behind. I had to go out there, pick her up, and bring her inside so I could leave for work. I felt so mean.

So all in all, Dusty and I had a great time at my sister's, and when my sister and fam got back they got us a gift to say 'thanks.' It was pretty much the best gift ever! Here is a pic of it:

And it came with a tag of authenticity

This is by far the best pineapple I have ever had. I've eaten so much my mouth feels a little raw, but it was totally worth it. I guess I know what's for lunch tomorrow. Thanks Jen and Mar!

Amazing Car!

So I just have to brag for a second because I looked at my odometer this morning and realized I have driven 380 miles on $20- and my gas light isn't even on yet. My car is so amazing.

Memorial Day Weekend

Dusty and I have had such a productive weekend, which I am quite proud of. We ran errands, hiked until I thought I might die, biked over 10 miles, walked all the way to WalMart and back, deep cleaned our entire house, and even had some time to relax...and the weekend is not over yet.

Our hike

Some weird fireplace thing at the beginning of our hike.

Today I'm finally going to relax for a few minutes in my pool and then go to the in-laws for an amazing BBQ. I love long weekends- they are the best!

Gross

Dusty just put Tabasco sauce in his Carnation Instant Breakfast. NASTY!!! He thinks it's good. What do you think?

Frozen Pop

Dusty loves frigid cold pop. For example, a little over a month ago Dusty and I decided to have some friends over to watch a movie. We thought it would be fun to go to dinner first and then come back and enjoy some snacks while watching our movie. We went to WalMart earlier that day to get some pop. When we got home Dusty thought it would be a good idea to put the cans (it was a 12-pack) in the freezer until we went to dinner- at that time we would take them out and put them in the fridge...we've all heard it's not a good idea to keep pop cans in the freezer for too long because they explode.

Half way through dinner we realized the pop was still in the freezer, and had been for nearly 3 hours. I feared the worst- a huge mess; pop everywhere; hours of clean up. However, when we got back, Dusty rushed to the freezer and the pop was fine- it wasn't even frozen at all, just nicely chilled. How lucky is that, right?

Before we left for Vegas Dusty bought some diet coke (which sadly he can't drink anymore because it makes his stomach hurt...thankfully...). I didn't know it at the time, but again Dusty put his pop in the freezer so it would be nice and cold for the long drive to Vegas. Hours after we'd already left Dusty remembered his pop. Again, I feared the worst, but this is all that happened....

Vegas Baby!

Last weekend Dusty and decided to go to Vegas with his cousins, Mike and Katrina. We left on Wednesday and got back Sunday. We had such a good time, and the weather even cooperated with us. It was cold and windy the first day, but we were out in the pool the other days. Then we came back to Utah and hit a snow storm just prior to Cedar City...

This picture was taken at a Bass Pro Shop. It's similar to Cabela's but way better and bigger! We stopped here first- we hadn't even gone to our hotel yet.

Here's Mike and Katrina.

They had a pretty big aquarium equipped with little sharks, manta ray, and other pretty fish.

Oh- and don't forget about the mermaid.

That night we walked the strip a bit. These are the lions at MGM- apparently they sleep 20 hours a day. They sure do have a tough life.

That night, Thursday, we decided to go see Ka, which is a Cirque de Soleil show. It was different, but so good! I've never seen anything like it. We were sitting on the back row, but I think that was the best seat because we were able to see everything.

On Friday night we went to Fremont street. First we ate shrimp cocktails at Golden Gate. Those are about the only shrimp cocktails I've ever really liked (maybe it's because my dad would take us there every time we went to Vegas as kids; of course the place is not kid friendly anymore).

Then we walked down the street and waited for the light show to start.

It was pretty cool. The video went along with a song by Don McLean - American Pie. That song has constantly been in my head ever since- problem is that I only know the chorus.

Saturday we got up early (around 10am or something) and went to see Hoover Dam. I've seen it many times before, but it never ceases to amaze me. The new bridge is still under construction, but it looks amazing! I can't wait to drive across it someday.

Saturday night we went and saw Phantom of the Opera a the Venetian- my first time. I've wanted to see it since I was 1.5 years old, but just hadn't yet. AMAZING! Holy cow! If you haven't seen it you need to. The singing, music, stage/sets was all so good. I loved every minute of it. These pics were taken in the Venetian.

The gardens at the Bellagio

We also saw the Bellagio fountains. It's so crazy how they do that.

The pretend Eiffel Tower- so pretty at night.

Sunday we had to come back home, but it sure was nice to have a little vacation.

Another Oven Mistake

Apparently you aren't supposed to pam ALL pans.

For Christmas Dusty gave me these really nice mini bread loaf pans. I've used them many times before, but yesterday I pammed the pan for some reason. A few minutes after I put the bread in the oven I began to smell burning. I couldn't figure it out at first...until I saw the smoke filling the oven. I figured it was too late to fix the problem so I just had to wait it out. The inside of the bread was super good, but the outside part (that was touching the bread pan) was completely black. Guess I won't make that mistake again.
