Happy Birthday Dusty

Yesterday, Valentines Day, was also Dusty's birthday. Because we didn't think we'd be able to see each other until quite late yesterday, since it was a week day and we both work like crazy, we decided to do his birthday stuff on Saturday. We went up to Park City, walked main, and then ate at this delicious Italian place. We were the only ones there at that time (lunch) and it was so nice.

Yesterday day I was having serious stomach aches and could not work because of my pain (which would come in spurts) so I headed home. After napping few a few hours I felt relatively better, so I decided to make Dusty a fun dinner- for Dusty's birthday and for Valentines day.

We had bread and salad for our appetizers, and for our main course we had PF Changs (a frozen bag of orange chicken and veggies- all you have to do is place it in a skillet for 15 minutes...so easy) and egg rolls. Dusty loves that restaurant, but I'm not crazy about it. I can eat there, but I certainly never crave it.

Because I am not eating any desserts of junk food right now, I had to get Dustin a one-serving pecan pie for his "cake." But since he doesn't like cake very much, he loved it.

A Little Weekend Crafting

I thought I'd make a quick post about the fun I've had this weekend. On Friday I dragged Dusty with me to Hobby Lobby to pick up a few things for some projects I've been thinking about for some time. Dusty has great taste, so I like having him with me to help me pick things out (even though I know he gets bored...).

It's crazy how much can be created with mod podge, a calendar, and a canvas board.

I got this picture in the mail from some Female Pilot Organization. I didn't join, but I did keep the picture they sent. I kind of like it. :)

Cruise Vacation

This past week (January 9-16) was a Hafen family vacation, and it was a blast. We went on a 7-day cruise to the Western Caribbean- Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel. The whole family was there (9 people total), and this is last time we'll all be together for a couple of years becuase the youngest, Cody is leaving for a mission next month.

Riding in a big white van was normal for me, but the Hafens thought it was the funniest/coolest thing ever, so they had to get a picture. Jeremy is a 'retarted' person with a helmet on in the front seat. Total dork...but you gotta love him. :)

I have to say I love cruises because it is such a nice way to take a relaxing and stress-free vacation break.

The first day out at sea was warm and beautiful. Dusty and I sat in the sun for hours and just soaked it up. I love the sun!

I'm pretty sure even baby Zac enjoyed the sun with his stylish hat.

The second day at sea was also incredibly nice. We hung out with the family, watched the boys play some soccer,

sat in the sun, ate tons of delicious vanilla and strawberry soft serve, and then went to the formal dinner that night. I know most guys [Dusty] don't quite understand this, but for us girls, it is so fun to get dressed up...Love it.

Wednesday was our first stop: Roatan, Honduras. Again, the weather was absolutely beautiful. We, the family, decided to take it easy that day. We took a taxi ride to the beach and rented a nice little area just for us.

I sat at the water's edge and let the ocean waves touch just my legs- not too much to get super wet, but enough to keep me nice and cool. I didn't realize that after sitting there for that amount of time that I would get so much sand down my pants. :) Thankfully, there were showers in the bathrooms, so I was able to rinse all of that sand out. We spent the day relaxing and walking up and down the beach barefoot. I feel completely exfoliated now.

Thursday we made it to Belize. It was stinkin' cold and rainy that day, but we weren't going to let that get in our way. We booked an off-shore excursion to go snorkeling. The waves were huge that day, and the wind was blowing, and though I had never snorkled before, I was going to be brave and give it a try. The first area we tried to snorkel at had a huge living reef. I tried to get a good look at it, but with my inexperience and the massive waves, I didn't see anything.

When the tour guides realized that area was not going to work, they took us to another spot to see Sting Rays. One of the tour guides picked one out of the water so that we could all touch it. It was so gross and slimy, but kind of cool. Ya- I totally touched it...I'm so brave. There were so many sting rays at that spot. They would swim around our feet and all around us- they were not bugged at all. We even saw a shark- we were informed it was not dangerous, but I'm not sure I believe that; he looked pretty lethal to me.

After snorkeling, the tour guides took us to one of the little islands there. We ate some lunch and then walked around the little town for a bit. Let's just say that I am glad to live in America.

The craziest thing- some rich person made his own little island miles off shore and built his house on it. I hope he has flood insurance.

All of that hard work made some of us a bit sleepy.

Friday we were in Cozumel. Here's a picture of our ship (Voyager of the seas) next to another Royal Caribbean ship.

We didn't have any major off shore plans here, so we all did our own thing. Dusty and I figured we could use the exercise, so we walked the 3 miles to town to do some shopping. It was super fun at first, but then every shop started looking the same. We did buy some authentic Mexican vanilla, a diet coke, and some candy bars, but that was it.

We were back on the ship by 4pm.

Saturday, our last day at sea, was soooooo cold!!! I wore my sweats and sweater all day long. It was pretty relaxing though. I read for hours, and loved it.

All in all I had a blast on the cruise. I ate delicious food (thankfully only gained 2 pounds), saw some pretty good entertainment, and got to hang out with my Hafen family. Thanks Brad and Judy for the awesome vacation!!!

Happy Fall

A couple of weeks ago I got the most brilliant idea for a table centerpiece, so I was off to the craft store to get the needed supplies. I bought some foam balls, craft paint, fall leaves, and some fun ribbon. Here's what I came up with:

Vinyl Rocks!

I've been experimenting with vinyl, and I've come to the conclusion that I absolutely LOVE it! Here are the additions to my bathroom:

This is a combination of Vinyl and Armour Etch. It's pretty fantastic, and I now if I leave a pan at someone's house, I don't have to worry about not getting it back. :) It's hard to see our name in this picture, but it looks pretty cool on our pan.

A Little Remodel

I (and when I say "I" I really mean Dusty) had to add a few more knobs to my jewelry holder, I think it looks much better now.

Months ago (and I mean months) I envisioned the most amazing jewelry holder. At the time, my jewelry was smashed in a little box and because I couldn't see everything, I would often forget what jewelry I even had. I told Dusty about my dream jewelry holder, and we set out to find it. We kept our eyes open every time we went to the mall or store, but to no avail- no cool jewelry holders. Then one day my friend, Carlie, showed me a jewelry holder her sister had made...and it was exactly what I had envisioned. So I made Dusty see it so he could fully understand what I was talking about.

After me talking about this jewelry holder A LOT, Dusty told me he could just make it for me. "What?!" I thought? "You could make that for me???" I was so excited, so that night we went down to my parent's house to use my dad's wood shop. Dusty impressed me, I have to admit. :) He was throwing out terms and using all this cool equipment I had no idea he even knew about. And Dusty is a perfectionist so it turned out AMAZING!!! We finished it yesterday, and here is the final product. Thanks Dusty!
